Frequently Asked Questions
What are veneers?
Veneers are thin sheaths that are laid onto the teeth and bonded to the surface. Although they can be made of different materials, porcelain is frequently used because of its durability and realistic appearance. Veneers are a more conservative alternative to crowns since they require less removal of the tooth's original surface. With veneers in place, patients can expect straighter, whiter, and more even teeth.
How does power bleaching work?
The Zoom light-activated gel is a scientifically formulated, pH balanced hydrogen peroxide that, when activated by the Zoom light, gently penetrates the teeth only to remove deep stains and discoloration, while leaving the structure of the tooth unchanged. Tooth whitening is a well established procedure in cosmetic dentistry. Hydrogen peroxide, the active ingredient in Zoom has also been safely used for many years in the treatment of gums and other oral soft tissue.
What is Invisalign?

Can my crown be made in one visit?
Yes. Now, thanks to a state-of-the-art technology called CEREC, Dr. Hampton can provide you with single tooth restorations, crowns, and partial crowns in one easy visit.
The first step is creating a detailed visual impression of your mouth using a high-technology optical camera. Next, Dr. Hampton uses the impression combined with computer-aided design to create a restoration according to the precise dimensions and color required. Following these specifications, the equipment fabricates the restoration from a specialized ceramic material to perfectly match your other natural teeth. The final step is bonding the restoration in place.
At what age should I bring my child to the dentist?
We recommend that your child is three to four years old for the first dental visit. It is sometimes helpful for parents to bring a child with them to observe their own cleaning appointment. In this way, the child will be more relaxed and understand what to expect during the first visit. We treat your children like our own.

What are dental implants?
For individuals who wish to replace missing teeth, dental implants may be an effective long-term solution. Crowns, bridges, removable prostheses, or implant supported dentures can improve your life with dependable, solid teeth. Implants provide greater structural support and last longer than traditional bridges or dentures. Implants serve as the artificial root to which new teeth are bonded. They are typically constructed of titanium, a strong and safe material that effectively attaches to bone. The procedure to insert dental implants typically involves three steps: the implant insertion stage, osseointegration (the period of healing for the jawbone), and the attachment of the restoration or new tooth.
